10k starts at 10 am, fun run at 9:15 am

Join runners from all over the region who come back year after year to take up the Birchwood 10k challenge.

The profile is mostly flat and there's a great chance for the Birchwood 10k to be your next personal best.

The race is accurately measured and chip timed to give you spot-on results quickly.

All finishers will get a fabulous race medal, a super bright t-shirt and a satisfied glow of achievement.

The race also offers one of the most extensive prize lists that you will find, with over £2000 awarded each year in prizes across all ages categories.

The race is run under UK Athletics Rules, UKA Race Licence 2019-?????

The minimum age for runners is 15 years old on race day.

Race route

The race route is an accurately measured 10km along roads and tarmac footpaths in Birchwood and the village of Croft.

How to enter

Entry is online only, through our partners at Motiv Sports UK, part of the Active Network.

The entry limit is 1300 runners and the race has been full before the closing date for the past two years, so don't hesitate, get your place booked.

The closing date for Birchwood 10k race entries is midnight on Thursday 16th August 2018 and there will be no entry on the day.

EHM joint entry

We have partnered with the fabulous English Half Marathon and the EHM 10k, which take place on September 16th, to offer you entry to both races at a 20% discount.

Register for either the English Half Marathon or with the EHM 10k and select one of the joint entry options to get the combined discount.

Refund policy

If you enter the race and are unable to run for whatever reason, we are unable to offer refunds or allow deferment to the following year.

 We will, however, be very happy to arrange the transfer of your race entry to another runner. See our how to enter page for more information.

Fun Run

As part of the event, there will also be a 2km fun run at 9:15 (before the main race). The route is along a traffic-free course on paths close to the Birchwood Shopping Centre. The Fun Run is ideal for all family members who can run or walk by themselves (sorry, not buggy friendly).

If you are in the main race, jogging along with your kids is a great way to warm up gently for the 10k.

The Fun Run distance is approximately 2km (measured by GPS).

There is a £2 entry fee for the run which you can pre-enter online or on the day at Race HQ.

Road Closures

For your safety, from the start to around 4km the race route is on fully closed roads. After this, roads will either be half closed or have traffic restrictions on them to allow you to run unhindered.

Charity

Runners are welcome to raise money for the charity of their choice at our race.

Once the costs of the race are taken into account, we hope to be able to give a considerable sum to a local charity. After last years' race we were able to provide funds to Risley Moss Action Group to help in their campaign to improve the local nature reserve.

Results

Race results will be made available to view at Race HQ after the prize presentation and provisional results will be available here as soon as possible and hopefully by the evening of the race.

Race HQ & Facilities

For all race day enquiries, Race HQ is in the foyer of Spencer House, close to the car park and the shopping centre. The prize giving will be held here, normally at about 12:00pm.

There will be portable toilets (at least 12) available close to the main car parks and toilet facilities are also available within the shopping centre.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer facilities to store bags or valuables.

Birchwood Shopping Centre

The centre is open from 10am on race day with a variety of high street stores offering food, drink and general goods.

There is a New Balance outlet store within the centre, selling a range of footwear and running gear. We hope to be able to offer in-store discounts to all runners and visitors.
