5k race at 10am (1k fun run at 10:45am)

How to enter

Pre-entry is online only.

There is a race limit of 400.  

With your race number, you will receive a race information sheet which includes a race location map and other race details.  If you want to download a copy of this, please click here.

Series entry:  The race can also be entered as part of the North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix series of races.  Series entry is available only until the start of the Birchwood Brook 5k (race 2 of the series).

Online entry

Online race entry is via BookitZone – click here.  In addition to the race entry fee, there is a small online processing fee (but you don't have to buy any stamps).

The closing date for online pre-entries is 18-Jun-2019.

Postal entry

Entry on the day

Entry on the day will be available subject to the race limit at a £2 surcharge.

If you want to enter on the day, please try to arrive early as it can get very busy in Race HQ.  It would help if you could bring a completed race entry form and the right money (or a cheque).

Start times

The 5k race will start promptly at 10am.

The fun run will start no earlier than 10:45am.

Facilities

Race HQ (including entries on the day) is at the Community Centre (details on the right of this page). 

There are toilets and limited changing facilities at the Community Centre.

We are unable to offer facilities to store bags or valuables.

Car parking

Parking is available behind the Community Centre and on local roads in the village.  Parking in the village is limited and it would be appreciated if you could share cars if possible.

Race Route

To see the 5k race route, click on the small map on this page.

The race route was first used in 2015.  The race starts & finishes in the centre of the village close to the Black Swan pub and the Village Cross.

It heads out along quiet country lanes towards Glazebrook for about 1.7k.  There is then a loop of about 1.6k at the furthest end near Glazebrook railway station before returning along the outbound route to Hollins Green.  The finish is in centre of the village, near to the start.

The 5k route has been accurately measured by an accredited course measurer.  The fun run is approx 1k (not accurately measured).

Refund policy

Entry fees are not refundable in the unlikely event of cancellation in exceptional circumstances (e.g. weather).

If you have entered the race and are unable to run for whatever reason, like most races we are unable to offer refunds.  Also, we are not able to defer your race entry to the following year.

However we do allow you to transfer your race entry to another runner.

Transfer Of Race Entries

Spectrum Striders will allow runners to transfer their race number to another runner provided they submit a completed entry form which is clearly marked:

"Transfer runner number XXXX from previous runner "

Please give as many details of the previous runner as possible; including "age on race day" and sex. We want to make absolutely sure we transfer the entry from the right person. The entry form for the new runner MUST be completed as normal with age, sex etc.

We would much prefer all changes to get to us before the closing date, but we will accept changes on the day at Race HQ.  If you want to do this, please arrive early!

We will not charge a transfer fee to do this unless we incur a cost. We want to see the right names against the runners in the results.

Results

Race results are usually available to view at Race HQ after the prize presentation.  We aim to have results available to view on this web site on the evening of the race.

Prizes

We offer prizes to the first three finishers as well as to veteran categories and the men's and women's teams.  Under normal circumstances, we aim to have the prize presentation before 6pm, so long as there are no major problems in producing the race results.
