Cheshire Ring Relay - Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th July

To all Spectrum members

Hi all
July 13th & 14th are rapidly approaching so if you haven’t already done so, please get planning with your fellow team members your car-shares and meeting points.

HERE is updated plan which now includes approx. start and finish times to help with this.

Please aim to arrive 30 minutes before your start time- your team leader will get updates via our What’s App group about whether we are running to time during the event. Remember the times quoted are approximate! And there could be a few towpath closures in place – I will message Section Leaders on Whats App about them.

HERE are some pre-race notes that I kindly ask you to read in the interests of health and safety. It will take only a few minutes of your time.

Some basic info :

•    It is a relay event so the plan is that each group will set off together and run as a group (with mustering if needed) and arrive at your finish point together, to hand over to the next team. Each team should pass on our baton which will be Rocco the Green Bear and the 1st aid bum bag.
•    Please sort out your car shares and remember you most likely need to leave a car at the start and at the finish. Make sure someone in your group has the keys for the finish car! Many sections have pubs at the finish – so why not take the opportunity to practice your post-run rehydration strategy.
•    End of Day 1 – Group 5 will finish at Ye Olde Kings Head, Gurnett (Macclesfield) at approx. 5pm  – anyone that would like to see them finish and then join them in the pub afterwards would be very welcome.
•    End of Day 2 – Please come and see Group 13 finish at Lymm Bridge (sometime after 6pm?) we will take some photos, then all are invited to a gathering at the Spread Eagle pub in Lymm Village. Food will be provided (courtesy of the club– just buy your own drinks). We have a small souvenir for all event participants, hopefully some cake, and there could even be a quiz. Please do come along.
•    Charity – this event is of course free for you to take part in, but we have decided to support St Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington, which is why Rocco is our baton for the 2 days. So we would like to ask you for voluntary donations to this fantastic cause. There will be a collecting tin and bucket around in the Spread Eagle on Sunday or feel free to pass any donations to me (Kate). I am a great fan of the Hospice and my daughter has been a volunteer there for the past 9 months.
•    Please wear your club vests if you can – then we are a great advert for our club. Those running both days may have to wash them quickly, or choose not to smell so good on Sunday. I am happy to have 2 vests :) :)

Helpers needed for 5k races

MESSAGE FROM Steve & Diane Springall

Dear Spectrum Striders and friends,
 
Most of you know we host three 5k races in May, June and July.  They don’t require too many marshals so that many of us can run too, but they do require enough.  To reduce the stress to the organising team can I please ask that we fill all the roles, whether a minor or major role, as soon as possible.  If you are running the races there are several helper roles before and after the race which are not marshalling.  Clearly some roles (marshal or finish recorder) do require you to be available during the race.
 
When you volunteer can you please clarify which of the dates you could make and if you are running so I give you a sensible role.  If it is your partner or family who is helping then let me know so that I can try to give them the most appropriate role to help support you running.
 
The race dates are
19:30 Thursday 30th May Birchwood Brook  Most helpers needed by 18:45, a few from 18:00.
10:00 Sunday 23rd  June Hollins Green 5k Most helpers needed by 09:00, a few from 08:00.  Staying with Sunday.as requested at the AGM.
19:30 Wednesday 3rd  July Forest Park Ladies 5k Most helpers needed by 18:45, a few from 18:00
 
Don’t forget there is a 1km fun run after the Hollins Green race.  This is properly listed on the entry form this year.
 
Can you please EMAIL Diane and Steve Springall back or post to them by personal messenger or phone then on 07976 811061 so they can collate the helper lists? 

Thanks in advance for lots of replies.  We need to get on with this as it is only 4 weeks to the first race on 30th May.

Are there any volunteers to make cakes and biscuits for Hollins Green?  It is nice to provide tea and cake whilst we do the results after the final race.
