My first 10k race, such a fantastic set up, very thankful for all involved, especially the route volunteers cheering us on

I’ve missed this! First one in 20 months for me, my absolute favourite run and one of the best organised, no need to worry about getting lost before or during. As always Marshals were so friendly and helpful.

It was my first race. Really well organised and it has inspired me to run more races.

Hello! Just wanted to say thank you for this morning’s race. It was a well marshalled and well-plotted route, and the sustainability aspect is also highly commendable. Thanks, from James

Thank you very much to all the organisers and volunteers today. Super friendly and professional. It was fabulous to be back at an actual event, even in the rain!

A Brief History of the Birchwood 10k
In August 1983, the newly formed Spectrum Striders Running Club put on “The Birchwood Races”. This consisted of an endurance race over an unmeasured distance (about 5-6 miles) and a shorter fun run. A year later, this evolved into a measured 10K race, again with the fun run. Soon, “The Birchwood 10K” had built a strong following from regional running and athletics clubs. Since then, as the popularity of open races for all runners has grown ever stronger, our race has grown too and has taken place every August. The only exception being in 2020, when almost all races (and other events) were unable to take place due to pandemic restrictions. Even then, we put on a virtual version of the race to keep us all running. We want to see the Birchwood 10K getting ever better and you, the runners who come to race help us to achieve this. Thank You!
