As you know, in order for us to put on a successful event of the Birchwood 10K we have a rule that no club members can run the race, and we really do need as many people as possible to volunteer to help.
We make it worth your while with post-race refreshments and you’ll have a great day supporting people running the race.
It takes a lot of marshals and volunteers to make this a successful event – feel free to sign up family & friends to help too, the more the merrier.
Please sign up below and let me know if you have a preferred role. Mostly we need marshals for the route but also Race HQ staff, and people at the Finish line to give out water etc. And if you can arrive early to help set up, that is very helpful too.

Many thanks to those of you who have kindly volunteered to help at the 10k on Sunday. As I always say, we couldn’t do it without you, and you all contribute to making the race a great success.
Below are the list of helpers and roles and a map showing the sections.
If you are not already on the list and can help, please let me know and definitely come to Race HQ on Sunday; there are always tasks to do and you may be able to fill a position if someone else does not turn up for any reason. If circumstances change and you can’t make it, or who are not happy with the assignment allocated, do let me know.
On Sunday morning, report to me/your team leaders at Race HQ and collect a marshal jacket and information sheet (unless you make other arrangements to meet your team leader).
Anyone who is able to help with set-up on Sunday, please arrive from 7:30 onwards.
A team of us will be at Spencer House from approx. 5pm on Saturday 22nd to put up the marquee and put out road signs on the route. Please come and join us if you have an hour or two to spare; many hands make light work with the marquee so the more people who help, the quicker we’ll be.
Timings on Sunday
Start/finish set-up: 7.30am onwards
Race HQ staff: by 8am
Car park team: 8am
Everyone else: 8:30-8:45am
Main race start: 10am
First finisher: approx. 10:30am
Last finisher: approx. 11:30am
Please bring a mobile phone and make sure you have your team leader’s number on the day.
Parking
If you’re leaving a car at Birchwood all morning, you can park on the Spencer House/Birchwood station side of the shopping centre car park where ANPR cameras will be turned off. If you will need to drive out to your marshal point then I would recommend parking on the ASDA side (where the Peacock pub is) to make sure you can get your car out in time. Please avoid parking in the pay and display carpark on the station side (the one with a barrier), and the ALDI car park, as you could get charged.
After the race, come back to Race HQ if you can. There will be refreshments as you will have earned them!
