Club Championships

The aim of the Striders club championships is to give runners a selection of races at different distances to target over a full year.  They can compete with other Striders, gaining points towards a championship series. Races are chosen at the start of the year for each of the championship disciplines. These are:

  • Cross Country & Multi-Terrain Championship. The best 6 of your scores count for the Championship.  This championship is scored 30 for finishing first Strider, 29 for second and so on.
  • Fell Championship. The best 6 of your scores count for the Championship. This championship is scored 30 for finishing first Strider, 29 for second and so on. There is a 1 point bonus for each race you run above the 6. There are no age-related bonuses. Full fell kit is required for some races (please see individual race pages for details). However, in adverse weather conditions full fell kit may be required even if not specified in advance – always take it with you to the race. The FULL KIT is: waterproof top & over trousers, compass, map, whistle, hat, gloves and for longer races emergency food and drink. (The latest FRA ruling is that it is good practice to take full kit to all fell races). For more details please email the Fell Secretary Nev at fell@spectrumstriders.org.uk.
  • Road Championship. The best 6 of your scores count for the Championship.  This championship is scored using a calculation that compares your time to world bests for your age group.

For Road, XC/MT and Fell there are championships for the age categories of women (veteran & senior) and men (veteran & senior).

Champion of Champions

The “Champion Of Champions” reflects the best performer across all of these disciplines. At the end of the year, trophies are awarded to the champions in each of the three disciplines. These trophies are presented at the annual Club Awards Dinner Dance which usually takes place in January / February.

The ‘Champion of Champions’ is calculated by assigning points to those who have competed in the 3 categories – so the 4 Road champions (Male Vet, Male Senior, Female Vet, Female Senior) will all score 30 points. And the same for Multi Terrain and Fell champions. The 2nd finishing athletes score 29, 3rd score 28, etc etc. The points from the 3 categories are then added together. So to be in the running for this trophy it is extremely likely that you will need to compete in all 3 disciplines. The most an athlete can score is 90 points by winning the 3 categories.

Below is an amalgamated fixture list of races across all disciplines.

Races marked as “TBC” are our “Best Guess” based on current information. The list will be updated when we have confirmation. If available, further details of races can be found in the appropriate Events Calendar entry.
